Reiki formed the original foundation for the rest of the energy work that I now do.
It was the first energy course that I ever studied - and doing it, felt like coming home.  Reiki created a framework to allow me to understand what I had been sensing intuitively all my life - and from there, to begin to work with this and the underlying energy.

Reiki is both subtle, and immensely powerful.

During a "typical" reiki treatment, you would find yourself lying down, or sitting comfortably whilst the practioner works either just above the body, or lightly touching.  You remain fully clothed, and if you choose, may be covered with a light blanket, or sheet for the sake of comfort.  A typical session could last from 45mins to an hour, occasionally longer.
Different people experience different sensations, some experience nothing beyond a sense of warmth and comfort.  Some experience strong emotions which can bring tears and deep emotional releases.  Some people simply fall asleep, feeling afterwards as though they have slept for a full night.  Each session is unique to you.

The reiki energy flows where it is most needed in the body and can work to support on the physical, mental, emotional or soul level.  Your body has an inherant wisdom within it, a reiki practioner connects with you, and with the sense they have of the energy that surrounds all of us constantly.  Opening up to this energy, they allow this to flow through them and into you.  Your body draws this energy into the areas where it is needed most - where there is low energy or energy blocks within the body.  A reiki practioner who is sensitive may feel where in the body those blocks are held, and may work predominantly over those areas, or they may simply work down the body in a routine, following traditional hand positions.  Each practioner is different, and each session is different.

I have done reiki underwater, up trees, on planes and trains - as well as in professional capacities in a treatment room with practioner table... I love its simplicity - and its immense benefit.
